"The story of Opal is wonderful. It needs to be told!" Emma Wood Hoskins, Catherine Marshall's sister (Picture: Barbara League and Emma Hoskins)
Barbara League –
After 28 years in active ministry, Barbara and her husband, along with their labradoodle, Ivan, have moved into the inner city of Covington, KY to live among and minister to the very poor. Barbara has worked as a seminar trainer, workshop leader and consultant in the field of addiction recovery and other life-controlling problems. She has worked with numerous churches and ministries, served as founding director of a women’s residential recovery program, and was the Director of Community Outreach and staff trainer at Teen Challenge Cincinnati, a men’s long term treatment facility.

Prior to writing Letters to Lori, she has written articles for newsletters and an article about Opal Myers, the main character in Letters to Lori, published in Cocke County Tennessee and Its People. Barbara has been instrumental in the development of several faith based programs and ministries in the Greater Cincinnati area, including her role in designing information and instruction material for these programs.

Barbara was born in Iowa, where she lived for fifteen years before moving with family to South Carolina. She is the mother of three married children (Matthew, a Lt. Col. serving at the Pentagon; Jonathan, a family therapist with a practice in Mason, OH; and Heather serving along with her husband at a church plant in the Pittsburg, PA area) and grandmother to four lovely and brilliant grandkids, ages three to nineteen years and another one due in March 2010.
